CHRISTIAN Diors and Donatella Versaces of tomorrow unveiled their designs at a student fashion show at Batley's Frontier.

Pupils from Batley School of Art and Design – part of Dewsbury College – showcased clothes they have created during their course.

The show opened with an eclectic collection of corsets, designed by first year national diploma fashion and clothing students, which varied from those shimmering with sequins to sleek satin basques.

Next students embraced the autumn and winter 2008 menswear trend of relaxed tailoring with a collection of men's clothes that could easily grace any high street store.

Students then combined fashion with an awareness for the environment with a collection of accessories made using recycled materials.

The show was not only a chance for the students to shine, but also for the college to demonstrate what a high quality course it offers, and the technology available to prospective students.

Part of the show featured patterns students had designed which were digitally produced in the college's print room and transferred to sheer fabrics. The material was then used to create a stunning range of beach kaftans.

A catwalk wouldn't be complete without the wardrobe staple the little black dress and teenagers from the college showed their flair for design again with their take on the classic.

White shirts were also given a twist as students experimented with how to turn a simple top into a fashion item.

The fashion show was also a chance for final year students to reveal their individual collections from vibrant orange, pink and turquoise floaty summer outfits to punk inspired prom dresses and vintage designs.

As usual the students' work reflected their hard work and maintained the college's reputation for offering leading fashion courses and creating fashion designers for the future.
